I'm starting to prefer looking at life rather than photos; photographs can just get so stale because you forget how the air smelled and how the wind felt. I always love doing quick paintings where everything is the same degree of wetness, it makes fuzzy things like trees easier to paint.

I've been looking at a lot of Van Gogh paintings recently because I'm reading "The Sunflowers are Mine," by Martin Bailey. Van Gogh, through his letters to his brother, talks about how certain paintings 'vibrate,' which is just a great way to replicate reality is thinking about everything has its own energy, especially in nature. This is a view out my of window, I really enjoyed how the sun was obscured by the clouds but you could see the sun popping out every now and again. I used this medium that was great for a wet-on-wet, it was absolutely perfect for the branches.
