Olympic Mountain Range

Olympic Mountain Range 8" x 8" oil on masonite

I used a palette knife in this painting in order to get a blurry scene. I decided to try something different since lately I've been thinking a lot about Monet's use of color and his application of paint. This is from a blurry photo I have of Seattle's Olympic Mountain Range, must've had a water droplet on the lens.

Kerr Memorial Fountain

Kerr Fountain 6" x 6" oil on canvas
This is a piece I did for my mom, it's from a photo of Kerr Fountain in the Public Square in Gallipolis. This painting was about light filtering through a tree onto the scene, I like the vibrant blues in the shadow areas.

Ohio Rain

Ohio Rain 10" x 10" oil on canvas

This is a painting that I reworked, the original didn't seem to have enough detail for me, especially in the land. I plan to make this 30" x 30," so I wanted more movement in the field. I love when trees clump together at a distance, the subtle detail in the woods is the most interesting thing for me.

Jack O'Lantern

Jack O' Lantern 6" x 6" oil on masonite

The movie Sleepy Hollow inspired me to do a scary gourd, it almost looks like the horseman could use this one as a head. I like the juxtaposition of orange against purple, very Halloween. It's endearing how jovial he looks, I got the expression just right.
