Mini Pumpkins

Mini Pumpkins 6" x 6" oil on masonite

I get excited going to the grocery store as much as the art store, there are so many different types of pumpkins. Besides the pumpkins, my favorite thing about this painting is the drapery in the background; drapery is so very dramatic, I might do a painting that is just cloth.

Gravitas #4

Gravitas #4 512 pixels x 512 pixels Digital Painting

In this painting I tried to layer the marks on top of each other as aesthetically pleasing as possible, but at the same time keep all my strokes horizontal. I love this gold color, it feels so divine and warm.

Autumn Flowers

Autumn Flowers 6" x 6" oil on masonite

These are flowers I got for my birthday last week, I love the autumn theme to it. There was a lot of purple in this arrangement, so I tried putting a chromatic blue juxtaposed against a red in order to create more vibrancy on the front flowers. When I read about how Georges Seurat did his paintings, it always makes my head spin at the complexity of it.

Gravitas #3

Gravitas #3 512 pixels x 512 pixels Digital painting

In these first few paintings I've done with ArtRage 4 I've really been trying to vary the brushstroke and palette knife lines, as well as layer tones so that the lighter ones sit mostly on top.

Gravitas #2

Gravitas #2  512 pixels x 512 pixels Digital Painting

I like the layering involved in digital painting, it creates a lot of depth, especially with all those tools in ArtRage 4. It's also nice to use the Ctrl-Z like the brushstroke never happened, sometimes when I'm oil painting in real life I miss it.
