Gravitas #1

Gravitas #1 512 pixels x 512 pixels Digital Painting

This is one of my first digital paintings I have made with ArtRage 4, it is a program that simulates how paint acts depending on how loaded the brush is. Dave put my digital paintings in one of his environments for an upcoming game called Firearms. The map is an upscale gallery entitled "Gravitas," he put special textures on the artwork along with a sheen. It looks fantastic in a simulated reality, the paintings look like jewels on the walls. I will post screenshots when he gets all the wall and floor textures in.

My teeth hurt from eating this, I'm reminded of Gob from Arrested Development when he bit into a caramel apple. Natural lighting feels so soothing, it really reflects how it feels outside, especially on this autumn day.

Golden Trees

Golden Trees 10" x 8" oil on canvas

This is a plein-air study I did today at a park near my apartment, there was so many different hues within that golden tree since it still had some green leaves. I received a Sylvia Plimack Mangold book for my birthday so I got super excited to paint some of my own trees. I like squinting my eyes at this piece.

Buckeye Season

Buckeye Season 5" x 7" oil on masonite

I live in central Ohio so I hear all about the Buckeyes around this time of year. I'm pretty sure every Ohioan grandmother knows how to make chocolate buckeyes, it's magical.

This title also refers to my favorite X-Files episode, much thanks to Dave for coming up with the title. I got a silver acorn from a relative one year for Christmas with a little note that said the acorn was the ancient Nordic symbol of life. There was an old folk belief that carrying one in your pocket insured a long life.

Autumn is Coming!

Autumn Is Coming 7" x 5" oil on masonite

I can't get enough gourds, there are so much shapes, sizes and combinations. I love how jovial fall colors are, I tried to make my orange as robust and chromatic as possible in order to contrast with the purple-blue shadows.
