This is a piece I did for the gallery, a husband is surprising his wife for Christmas with this painting. I put two images above to show off the gold paint I used. I never realized how much of the gold shows even when mixed with other paint, it gives it more dimension, especially in person.

This is a painting I did for my parent's office, looks great in a gold frame! It's from their vacation photo in Capri, Italy. I need to get a better picture for this painting, the only way you can is by putting the image in sunlight. Working for clients in the gallery I finally figured out that most people have poorly lit spaces, thus lighter paintings always do better for residential commissions.

I got this box of matches in Las Vegas from a bar at the Aria, I've always wanted to paint it because of the sky blue color. This painting also has a pop-art quality, I thought a lot about Wayne Thiebaud when I did this.

I made this as a sample for a client that liked my other "Hazy Autumn" painting but he needed something horizontal and a bit more neutral in order to compliment his beige mantel. I do these paintings without any references, I think of these paintings as imprints of memories, like from driving around Galloway, admiring its farmland.

Aerial Ohio 24" x 36" oil on canvas
This is a piece I did for a client based off an abstract that he had picked out. The painting reminded me of aerial views of Ohio, so I googled a bunch of overhead views taken from planes. I also put 'the oval' from OSU campus into the lower right hand side of the painting, it isn't too overt I'm happy with it, it feels very solid in idea and execution. I think I'll make another one, but with red as a dominant and blue as an accent.

These are some candy from David's mom, she gets them from some of her German family members every year. This chocolate is called "Merci," it tastes like real chocolate, it kind of oozes in your mouth. Oh, candy is so fun to translate into paint, such playful shapes.

This is a view I have outside my window, I love looking at it on rainy days because the color of the hill is so rich, I always call it an Ohio gray. I also continued the painting along the edges, with my signature(HN) on the lower side of the profile.
