Ohio Hills

Ohio Hills 8" x 10" oil on canvas
This is from one of the pictures I took while going down to Gallipolis for my  great aunt's funeral. I was interested in how the clouds were creating shadows on the fields, along with glowing spots throughout. I also love how blue the hills are!

Jiffy Pop

Jiffy Pop 12" x 12" oil on 3/4" cradled masonite
I absolutely love the reflections in a jiffy pop, it's so receptive to all the colors in the room. I particularly enjoy all the energy I gave the bag in contrast to the rest of the environment, it gives a good focal emphasis.

Pine cone in Sunlight

Pinecone in Sunlight 6" x 6" oil on masonite
I've been waiting for a reason to paint this pinecone! The composition was a happy accident, I was just going to have the pinecone against a bluish background, but the light started to filter in a way that framed the pinecone nicely, so I scraped away blue to put it in. I like that I got a bit of the window shape incorporated. Sunlight always makes me work faster because I can see how much has changed since I started; a moment is so fleeting, a day never the same as the one before it.

This was our view going down to Southern Ohio on Friday. I love how the flat landscape slowly turns into hills.

Tequila Shot

Tequila Shot 8" x 8" oil on canvas
Buy it now! Comes with a black floater frame, ready to hang.
I have never used a black background before, I was always told not to use black in school, so I steered away from trying it, but I love the result! I used a bit of yellow ochre in the black to lighten it, rather than white, looks richer. Also, I like how the shadow pushes the salt forward, instead of getting swallowed up in the white.

Storm Wars: Return of the Storm

Calm Before the Storm 30" x 40" acrylic on canvas
I made this today while in the gallery, a local Hyatt hotel requested five clouds paintings. It reminds me of that other storm painting I made, mostly because of that blue glow.

Citrus Tea

Citrus Tea 8" x 10"  oil on canvas
I love color palette I used in this one , it has a lot of happy colors. This is actually my first time painting a lemon, it really goes well against a cerulean blue.
